The 6 sample questions as a list

    A) convivencia
    B) ciudadanía
    C) crianza
    D) tercera edad
    A) convivencia

La convivencia is living together under one roof, which three generations sharing an apartment must manage (la convivencia exige paciencia = living together takes patience). La crianza means raising children and does not describe a relationship entre adolescentes y abuelos.
    Families and Communities

Muralism painted large public walls with social themes so that art would reach ordinary people (acercarlo al pueblo = bring it closer to the people). Keeping painting for private collectors is the opposite of that aim.
    Beauty and Aesthetics

    A) sostenibilidad
    B) deforestación
    C) concienciación
    D) escasez
    D) escasez

La escasez de agua is a water shortage (tras tres años sin lluvias = after three years without rain). La sostenibilidad is the goal of using resources wisely, not the lack of them.
    Global Challenges

    A) asimismo
    B) a menos que
    C) a sí mismo
    D) sin embargo
    A) asimismo

Asimismo, written as one word, adds a further point (= likewise, also), and both benefits point the same way. A sí mismo means to himself, and sin embargo would signal a contrast that is not there.
    Connectors › Addition and Sequence

    A) inscriben
    B) inscriban
    C) inscribirán
    D) inscribieran
    B) inscriban

A menos que (unless) always takes the subjunctive, and with the future cancelará it is the present subjunctive (a menos que se inscriban = unless they sign up). The imperfect subjunctive would need a past or conditional main verb.
    Subjunctive Triggers

    A) iremos
    B) vamos
    C) iríamos
    D) vayamos
    B) vamos

¿Qué te parece si…? (What if we…? / How about…?) takes the present indicative (¿Qué te parece si vamos…?). The present subjunctive and the future never follow this conditional si.

About these cards

Review status: Second-reader reviewed, with corrections applied.

Checked against:

  • Sections are built around the six themes and the free-response tasks of the College Board AP Spanish Language and Culture Course and Exam Description in use through 2025–26, used as a topic outline only (no text copied). The revised course framework takes effect in fall 2026 (Course and Exam Description effective Fall 2026), with the first revised exam, given in Bluebook, in May 2027: it keeps the argumentative essay and replaces the email reply, conversation and cultural comparison with the project presentation and project Q&A.
  • Meanings, grammar and usage checked against the Real Academia Española, Diccionario de la lengua española (dle.rae.es), the Diccionario panhispánico de dudas and the RAE/ASALE Nueva gramática de la lengua española (reference only; no text copied).
  • Usage also checked against FundéuRAE recommendations (fundeu.es, CC BY-SA 3.0), the Instituto Cervantes Plan curricular (cvc.cervantes.es) and the Diccionario de partículas discursivas del español (dpde.es) (reference only; no text copied).
  • Exam tasks also checked against College Board's 2025 and 2026 AP Spanish Language and Culture Free-Response Questions, and cultural facts against the Constitution of Paraguay (1992), art. 140, and Gaceta UNAM (gaceta.unam.mx) on the muralists' 1923 manifesto (reference only; no text copied).
