The 10 sample cards as a list
  1. Early in planning, how should a project manager deal with compliance requirements?
Identify the laws, regulations and standards that apply, confirm them with legal or compliance experts, and build them into the requirements, quality plan and risk register so they are planned work, not afterthoughts.
    Business Environment › Compliance
  2. A new data-protection regulation will take effect before the project finishes. What should the project manager do?
Assess the impact on scope, schedule, cost and risk with the compliance experts, then raise a change request to update the plan and requirements. Ignoring it until go-live is not an option.
    Business Environment › Compliance
  3. The project is behind, and a team lead suggests skipping a legally required safety test to make the date. What should the project manager do?
Refuse — compliance requirements are not negotiable. Look for other ways to recover the schedule and tell the sponsor about the delay honestly.
    Business Environment › Compliance
  4. How can a project manager show that compliance requirements are actually being met?
Through documented evidence: tracing each requirement to tests and deliverables, running reviews or audits, and keeping records that an auditor or regulator could check.
    Business Environment › Compliance
  5. When does a predictive approach suit a project best?
When requirements are clear and stable, the technology is well understood, and changes late in the project would be very costly — for example most building construction.
Agile and Hybrid › Choosing an Approach
  6. When does an agile approach suit a project best?
When requirements are uncertain or likely to change, the work can be delivered in small usable increments, and customers are available for frequent feedback.
Agile and Hybrid › Choosing an Approach
  7. A hospital project includes a new building wing and a patient-portal app. Which delivery approach fits?
A hybrid approach — predictive for the construction, where the design must be fixed early, and agile for the app, where requirements will evolve with user feedback.
Agile and Hybrid › Choosing an Approach
  8. Which four values underpin the PMI Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct?
    Responsibility, respect, fairness and honesty.
    Professional Ethics
  9. How do aspirational and mandatory standards differ in the PMI Code of Ethics?
Aspirational standards describe conduct practitioners strive to uphold; mandatory standards set firm requirements, and breaching them can lead to disciplinary action.
    Professional Ethics
  10. The sponsor asks the project manager to report the project as green to the board, although it is two months late. What should the project manager do?
Report the true status and explain the recovery plan. Misleading reports — including half-truths or withheld facts — breach the value of honesty.
    Professional Ethics
