The 10 sample cards as a list
  1. hablar → yo
    hablo

Regular -ar verbs: drop -ar, add -o. Every regular verb, whatever its ending, takes -o for yo: hablo, como, vivo.
    Regular -ar
  2. trabajar → tú
    trabajas

Regular -ar verbs take -as for tú.

Watch out: tú is the informal you; the formal usted uses the él form instead: usted trabaja.
    Regular -ar
  3. comer → yo
    como

Regular -er verbs: drop -er, add -o.
    Regular -er
  4. vivir → yo
    vivo

Regular -ir verbs: drop -ir, add -o.
    Regular -ir
  5. ser → yo
    soy

ser is fully irregular and is learned as a set: soy, eres, es, somos, sois, son.
    Ser · estar & ir
  6. tener → yo
    tengo

Go-verb: the yo form adds -go to the stem. The other persons change e→ie inside the boot: tienes, tiene, tienen; tenemos and tenéis are regular.
    Go-verbs
  7. saber → yo
    sé

Irregular in yo only: sé; the rest is regular: sabes, sabe, sabemos, sabéis, saben.

Watch out: The accent on sé separates it from the pronoun se.
    Irregular yo
  8. querer → yo
    quiero

e→ie stem changer: quiero, quieres, quiere, quieren; queremos and queréis keep the e. Boot rule: the stem changes in yo, tú, él/ella/usted and ellos/ellas/ustedes (the forms that outline a boot on a conjugation chart); nosotros and vosotros keep the infinitive's stem.
    Stem change e→ie
  9. poder → tú
    puedes

o→ue stem changer: puedo, puedes, puede, pueden; podemos and podéis keep the o.
    Stem change o→ue
